Work Package 3: EXPOSOME-HEALTH
Coordinator: Erik Melén, Karolinska Institute, Stockholm, Sweden
The goal of EXPANSE is to decrease the proportion of unexplained cardiopulmonary health risks in urban populations and to gain insights into mediating biological mechanisms and causality. To do so we will develop tools to link External and Internal Urban Exposome measures to cardio-metabolic and pulmonary disease (CMPD).
LINK TO CARDIOPULMONARY HEALTH
EXPANSE will identify population groups for which the Urban Exposome is a significant contributor to CMPD and will identify which specific factors of the Urban Exposome are driving these contributions.
EXPANSE will elucidate the origin and mechanisms underlying the impact of the Urban Exposome on cardiometabolic and pulmonary health by developing tools and insights to allow the use of Exposome factors to improve and individualise current CMPD risk scores to lay the foundation for the establishment of an Exposome Risk Scores framework.
